Center Programs
Blessed Beginnings provides a partial day preschool program for children ages 2 to 6. Children do NOT need to be potty trained to join any classes at Blessed Beginnings. Blessed Beginnings offers a 2 year old, a 3 year old, a 4 year old, and a Pre-Kindergarten program.
The 2-year-old program is a play-based program that includes social skills of sharing, manners, taking turns, following one step directions, and beginning to communicate needs/wants. Also included, are fine motor skills, creative art opportunities including music, and art using different materials, as well as sensory exposure with a variety of sensory bins. Math and literacy skills of letter introduction, name recognition, numbers 1-5, counting, shapes, and colors are all presented to the children in a variety of settings.
The 3-year-old program includes social skills of sharing, taking turns, following one and multi-step directions, taking care of self needs, communications of wants/needs and interacting appropriately with peers. Literacy and math skills including name recognition, introduction to letters and letters in their name, acquiring new vocabulary, 2D shapes, counting, patterning, sequencing, sorting, 1 to 1 correspondence, and numbers 1-10 are introduced and practiced. The 3’s program spends time on developing proper pencil grip, cutting with scissors, building fine motor strength, assembling puzzles, and exploration of different forms of creative art through different mediums, settings, and music.
Our 4-year-old and PreK programs both prepare students for kindergarten. Practicing problem solving skills, working in small groups, sharing and taking turns with classroom materials, taking care of ones basic needs, following multi-step directions, and treating others with kindness and respect are all social skills that are included in the curriculums. Creative arts including music, art processes that use a variety of materials, and dramatizing familiar stories and activities are practiced by the children. Literacy skills of letter names and sounds, spelling and writing ones name, sight word introduction, pre-reading skills, responding to questions, and visual discrimination are components of the curriculum. In math, counting in different ways, patterning, sequencing, tallying, tens frame, graphing, measurement, and 2D/3D shapes are all presented to the children through a variety of activities and games. Children are also exposed to and take part in science experiments where they use many parts of the scientific method prior to, during, and after performing the experiment. Fine motor skills continue to be a focus in these programs and include cutting, coloring, tracing, writing, painting and a variety of activities to strengthen the hand so as to improve the above skills.
A goal at Blessed Beginnings school is to provide a fun, learning environment for the children when at school and also a place for our children and their families to join together as one big family. We do this by hosting a variety of events outside of the school day that to bring everyone together here at our school. We start this by hosting a back-to-school bash in September followed by a family movie night in November. In December the students perform in a holiday program, followed by a tailgate with your favorite guy in February. In the spring we invite our families to an art exhibition where the children showcase some of the artwork they have done in class, host a mom’s celebration with our moms in May, a graduation ceremony for those children moving on to kindergarten, and end the year with a family end of the year bash. At Blessed Beginnings we consider our students, staff, and families all part of the Blessed Beginnings Family.
